Anne Boleyn: Her Early Life

Anne Boleyn was the second wife of King Henry VIII of England and is chiefly known as "the one who had her head chopped off.” As such, her legacy has been defined as the queen who was executed due to the accusations of adultery and incest. Despite this, her downfall was fabricated due to her position as a opinionated woman of power and a perceived threat in politics. The qualities that ultimately contributed to her downfall were constructed during her early life and education. However, Anne’s early life is still relatively a mystery, many details of her upbringing and childhood unconfirmed.
Born on an unknown date in c.1501, Anne spent her early years in England until she was about thirteen and was sent to be educated on the continent. Her education led her to a position in the French royal household. While there, she cultivated Francophile preferences, her later fashion choices and religious beliefs reflecting her life in France.
